Fast track your career as a VFX & Animation Production Coordinator or Assistant, guided by industry pros from major film and TV projects!

Our 7-week course is designed to cater to newcomers, and VFX / animation production assistants. It's tailored to align with the standards of renowned global studios, equipping you with job-focused, industry-relevant skills necessary for production assistant or production coordinator roles on feature films, television, and commercials. You will acquire skills that are applicable across both animation and VFX studio environments.

During the course, you will have access to comprehensive online modules and also actively engage in twice-weekly live online workshops and guest Q&A's led by industry experts experienced in major film and TV productions. Our class sizes are kept small for more personalized attention and hands-on learning (max. 10 students).

The course focuses on developing practical skills in foundational areas like tracking, delivery, review and reporting processes, while also advancing into higher-level tasks such as scheduling. You will receive hands-on training with industry-standard project management tools like Flow Production Tracking (formerly ShotGrid), emphasizing real-world applications to prepare you for industry challenges.

In her role as the Department Manager of Motion Capture at WētāFX, Kim Rickard draws on her foundation skills and experience in live-action film, crew management and production. The Motion Capture department is comprised of two main teams. One dedicated to virtual production and performance capture data acquisition, and the other responsible for delivering the processed data to downstream departments. For the first aspect Kim acts as an operational manager, partnering with the Virtual Production Supervisor and other leaders in the department to ensure both crew and equipment are available to service client location shoots and in-house captures on WētāFX’s Mocap stage in Wellington. For the post-processing Kim works with the Motion Capture Supervisor and the Motion Capture Department Production Manager to resource the crew needs of multiple shows coming through the department.

Kim acts principally at the show forecasting level and is more involved with overall crew availability and longer term planning, rather than the shot work throughput/targets. Along with recruitment for the team, general crew welfare and career development and training, Kim is also involved in bidding for shoots and post-processing work and works directly with show producers/teams to ensure all projects coming through the Motion Capture department are delivered on time and within budget. The Motion Capture Department at WētāFX sits anywhere between thirty five and fifty people, and is proud to have teams in both Wellington and Melbourne.

As a Feature Production Manager at Laika, Spriha oversees the VFX Department. Her journey in the world of animation and visual effects began after completing a Production Management course at Gobelins, Paris.

She embarked on her career at Dreamworks, where she immersed herself in exciting projects like Kung Fu Panda and Trolls for three years.

Seeking new horizons, she ventured to Melbourne in early 2017 to delve into the realm of VFX at Iloura, which later transitioned into Method Studios. VFX gave her the opportunity to learn and grow.

She started her career as a production manager at Pixel Zoo Studios. Her work involved collaborating with prominent brands like Mattel, MGA, Moonbug Entertainment, and Moose Toys on a diverse range of projects, including advertisements, TV series, movies, and music videos.
